One Dimensional Model for Multimaterial Hypoelastic Medium

The one-dimensional Eulerian model for multimaterial hypoelastic media is developed on the base of the diffuse interface approach. This model represents an equilibrium reduced model that is obtained by applying the asymptotic analysis to the nonequilibrium bimaterial diffuse interface model. This nonequilibrium model, in turn, is derived by means of the volume averaging procedure applied to the Wilkins hypoelastic model. HLLC-type approximate solution to the Riemann problem is considered and implemented in a Godunov-type numerical method for the model obtained. Numerical results of the proposed Eulerian diffuse interface model are compared with reference analytical so-lutions of the bimaterial Riemann problem with resolved interface. The comparison analysis demonstrates that the proposed model can accurately describe the wave process in multimaterial el-astic media.
