摘要

Abstract

Polygonati Rhizoma is a bulk traditional medicinal herb in China, and Polygonatum cyrtonema is one of the original plants of Huangjing (Polygonati Rhizoma) in the Chinese pharmacopoeia. With wild resources unable to meet market demands, predicting the potential suitable areas of P. cyrtonema holds guiding significance for its cultivation and plant conservation. Using the MaxEnt (Maximum Entropy) and ArcGIS software, we predicted potential suitable habitat of P. cyrtonema in China through 243 occurrence records along with 16 environmental factors. The results indicated the following: (1) The model exhibited outstanding accuracy with AUC = 0.956. (2) The primary environmental factors influencing the distribution of P. cyrtonema were the driest month precipitation (Bio14), slope, seasonal variation of temperature (Bio4), monthly mean temperature (Bio2), aspect, and elevation. Among these, the driest month precipitation (Bio14) was the most influential environmental factor on P. cyrtonema distribution. (3) Currently, P. cyrtonema is widely distributed in China, with suitability areas located in provinces such as Hunan, Jiangxi, Guizhou, Fujian, Zhejiang, Guangxi, and Hubei, covering 166.07 × 104 km2 (11.27% of China’s total land area). (4) Future climate change poses a threat to P. cyrtonema in China, with varying degrees of reduction in its potential total suitable areas and high suitability areas under different climate scenarios. These findings are useful references for the identification of suitable areas of P. cyrtonema, and provide insights into the habitat conservation.
