Abstract

The method of swelling in solutions is one of the methods for modifying rubber crumb (RC). According to IR spectroscopy data, it has been found that the method of modifying RC in solutions of styrene—butadiene–styrene thermoplastic elastomer makes it possible to create a modified layer on the surface, which remains in the crumb sample after the extraction stage. The modification makes it possible to increase the heat resistance of the samples. Analysis of the modified crumb after the acetone extraction stage showed that the modifier is not washed out from the surface of the RC, but is chemically bound to the surface of the crumb.
