Use of Hemp (Cannabis sativa) Biomass Components and Activated Carbons Based on Them to Remove Pollutants from Aqueous Media: 2. Organic Compounds and Metal Ions

The second part of the review provides summarized information on the use of cultivated hemp (Cannabis sativa) biomass components as sorption materials for removing dyes from aqueous media. The parameters of adsorption processes and the efficiency of sorption extraction of dyes by biomass components and waste from Cannabis sativa processing are presented. It is also shown that the biomass components and hemp processing wastes are good precursors for the synthesis of carbonizates and activated carbons, which were also used to remove various organic and inorganic pollutants from aqueous media. It is established that adsorption isotherms are most often described by the Langmuir model and the kinetics of the process mostly corresponds to the pseudo-second-order model.
