Synthesis of a Thermally Stable Ionic Liquid Monomer Based on a Quaternization Reaction

One of the main problems of humanity in the modern era is the problem of environmental protection. The creation of environmentally friendly production and processing technologies under the principles of “green chemistry” is one of the promising and currently important directions of scientific and practical importance for overcoming this problem. From this point of view, the creation of production technologies based on the application of environmentally friendly ionic liquid salts, which are distinguished by chemical and thermal stability, and at the same time the development of methods for the synthesis of ionic liquid monomers and polymer products based on them, which are distinguished by specific operational properties, are of great interest. Taking into account the above, the synthesis conditions of the cationic ionic liquid monomer of N,N,N-triethyl,N-(2-methacryloxyethyl)ammonium iodide, based on methacryloyl chloride, diethylaminoethanol and ethyl iodide, the results of the determination of its structure by modern analytical methods, thermal stability, and the results of the study of electrical conductivity at various concentrations and temperatures are reflected in the presented article.
