Abstract

The paper discusses a new method for assessing the wear resistance of paint and varnish coatings based on the use of high-speed abrasive-liquid jets in combination with a moving (rotating) target. The results of experimental studies have been presented, and their analysis has been carried out, as a result of which the brands of paint and varnish coatings that have the highest wear resistance have been established. A method for estimating the remaining area of the paint coating has been proposed that is based on determining the number of pixels by using functions for quickly selecting elements of similar color in the Paint.net graphic editor. Based on the obtained results, conclusions have been drawn about the effectiveness of the new method for diagnosing paint and varnish coatings. It is shown that the use of the new method allows one to quickly evaluate various brands of paint and varnish coatings according to the criterion of residual area as a result of exposure to a high-speed abrasive-liquid jet. In conclusion, the paper diskusses promising directions for the development of a method for diagnosing quality and operational parameters of paint and varnish coatings.
