Abstract
The first article in the series provides an overview of the current situation in the welding thermoplastic-based plastics. The historical prerequisites for the emergence of various methods of welding thermoplastics are considered. An expanded classification of methods for welding parts made of thermoplastic materials is given. The key design, technological, and operational factors influencing the choice of plastic welding method are described.
