Assessing the Limits of the Tolerance Range and Optimal and Critically High Salinity Zones by the Parameters of Water-Salt Homeostasis of Gammarus lacustris (Malacostraca, Amphipoda)

Abstract
Using the parameters of water-salt homeostasis as a method in environmental studies, it is shown that the limits of the tolerant, optimal, and critically high salinity zones for Gammarus lacustris are 0.0035–11.75, 0.023–5.6, and 5.6–11.75 g/L of NaCl, respectively. The results may be applied to predict the distribution area and assess the optimal and critically high salinity zones and the physiological status of G. lacustris in natural conditions.
