A Two-Dimensional Mott-Smith Approximation for a Steady Supersonic Flow with a Regular Shock-Wave Reflection
摘要
Abstract
The Mott-Smith solution, which is widely used for description of the internal structure of planar shock waves, has been constructed for the whole two-dimensional flow field for the problem of the stationary reflection of shock wave from a plane of symmetry. The solution accuracy has been assessed by the comparison with the results obtained by the direct simulation Monte Carlo method. The solution captures general features of the flow field pattern and the shape of the molecular velocity distribution function for moderately and highly strong incident shock waves (normal Mach number from 4 to 10). The ability of the solution to predict the flow structure quantitatively can be considered satisfactory.
