External Menisci on Thin Inclined Fibers with Circular Cross-section (the Case of Full Wetting)
摘要
Abstract
An analytical solution is constructed for the problem of determining the configuration of external menisci that forms on the surface of a liquid when a thin inclined fiber with circular cross-section is immersed in this liquid. It is assumed that the liquid completely wets the fiber. We found that the fiber inclination leads to an asymmetry of both the contact line and the meniscus as a whole. It is shown that the maximum of the liquid rise increases with increasing angle of inclination of the fiber from the vertical. At the same time, some part of the meniscus falls even below the horizontal level of the initially undisturbed liquid.
