Abstract <p>The paper formulates and solves the problem of optimal doping of the barrier layer in multilayer heterostructures encountered in nanoelectronics. An expression for the gradient of the cost functional is obtained. The results of the numerical solution of the formulated optimization problem are presented.</p>
