Numerical Solution of the Initial Boundary Value Problem of the Impact of a Shock Pulse on a Layer of a Bulk Medium

Abstract
The initial boundary value problem of the evolution of a wave pulse in a shock tube initiated by rupture decay is solved numerically. The cases of a closed and open impact pipe in the presence of a layer of powdery bulk medium in it are considered. The influence of the parameters of the powdery medium layer on the maximum value of the total stress on a solid wall shielded by a bulk medium is investigated. The results obtained are compared with experimental data.
