Abstract <p>The regional specific features of development of the gold mining industry in Asian Russia, a key macroregion of gold mining in the country, are considered. Special attention is paid to the spatial distribution of gold reserves and production volumes. Depending on the annual volume of its production, four groups of regions are identified. This classification reflects the distribution of the production potential of gold mining across the regions of Asian Russia. Ten leading gold mining regions are studied in most detail, and their main gold deposits that determine the potential and dynamics of the industry development are clarified. The most important participants of the industry, the largest companies engaged in gold mining and processing, are presented. Investment activity in gold mining regions reflecting the level of economic attractiveness and prospects for the development of gold mining is shown. Growth trends and factors influencing the sustainable development of the gold mining sector in the regional context are identified.</p>
