Abstract <p>Post-stroke cognitive impairment (PSCI) refers to a range of syndromes that meet the diagnostic criteria for cognitive impairment following a stroke. Numerous studies suggest that miRNAs play significant roles in cognitive disorders. This study aims to investigate the expression level of serum miR-485-3p in patients with PSCI and its correlation with cognitive function. A total of 118 acute ischemic stroke (AIS) patients were enrolled in this study. Of these, 46 were diagnosed with PSCI and 72 with post-stroke no cognitive impairment (PSNCI) at 3 months after onset. RT-qPCR was used to detect the expression level of miR-485-3p in the serum of the subjects, and the ROC curve was drawn to analyze its diagnostic value in PSCI. The results showed that the expression level of serum miR-485-3p in PSCI patients is decreased. ROC curve indicates high diagnostic accuracy of miR-485-3p in differentiating PSCI patients from healthy individuals. Therefore, it may become a serum marker for the diagnosis of PSCI. Additionally, the level of miR-485-3p is associated with poor functional prognosis after stroke and is an influencing factor for AIS. This may help to improve the result of a stroke.</p>

Abstract

Post-stroke cognitive impairment (PSCI) refers to a range of syndromes that meet the diagnostic criteria for cognitive impairment following a stroke. This may help to improve the result of a stroke.
