Abstract <p>Based on the study of a representative collection, the morphological and spectroscopic properties of diamonds of the Morgogor River were described for the first time for this placer and compared with diamonds of the Ebelyakh River. Based on IR spectroscopy data, the diamonds of the Morgogor placer were divided into three genetic groups, presumably corresponding to the primary source areas, following the methodology developed earlier during the study of diamonds of the Ebelyakh placer. It has been confirmed that the selected genetic groups are different in most of the selected morphological and spectroscopic features. The groups of diamonds distinguished for the Ebelyakh and Morgogor placers have the same characteristics, but differ in the proportions in the samples. The distribution of different genetic groups at different areas of the diamond placer deposits of the Anabar district can be used to identify the directions of diamond transportation and, after all, to search for its primary sources.</p>
