Abstract <p>The reaction of 3-amino-5-bromo-<i>N</i>-(furan-2-ylmethyl)-4-(methoxymethyl)-6-methylthieno[2,3-<i>b</i>]­pyridine-2-carboxamide with a solution of sodium hypochlorite has been found to involve oxidative dimeriza­tion with elimination of one furfuryl group.</p>

The reaction of 3-amino-5-bromo-N-(furan-2-ylmethyl)-4-(methoxymethyl)-6-methylthieno[2,3-b]­pyridine-2-carboxamide with a solution of sodium hypochlorite has been found to involve oxidative dimeriza­tion with elimination of one furfuryl group.
