Abstract <p>The reactions of L-serine and L-threonine with 4-isothiocyanato-4-methylpentan-2-one afforded [1,3]oxazolo[3,2-<i>c</i>]pyrimidine-3-carboxylic acids <b>3a</b> and <b>3b</b>, respectively. The formation of the corresponding <i>cis</i> isomers was confirmed by X-ray analysis of acid <b>3a</b>. Methyl ester, hydrazide, and amides were synthesized from acid <b>3a</b>.</p>

Abstract
