Abstract <p>4-(2-Aryl-3-aroyl-4-hydroxy-5-oxo-2,5-dihydro-1<i>H</i>-pyrrol-1-yl)benzoic acids were synthesized by three-component condensation of methyl aroylpyruvates, aromatic aldehydes, and 4-aminobenzoic acid (PABA) in glacial acetic acid. Their structure was confirmed by <sup>1</sup>H and <sup>13</sup>C NMR and IR spectra, as well as by X-ray analysis, and their analgesic and anti-inflammatory activity was studied.</p>
