Synthesis of New Furan-2(5H)-one Derivatives Containing a 4-Oxothiazolidine Ring

Abstract
Thiosemicarbazones derived from 3-acetylfuran-2(5H)-ones reacted with diethyl acetylenedicarboxylate in anhydrous ethanol, as well as with maleic anhydride in chloroform, to produce new derivatives containing furan-2(5H)-one and 4-oxothiazolidine fragments. The synthesized compounds were characterized by NMR spectra and elemental analyses.
