Abstract

Methyl 2-O-benzoyl-3,5-di-O-benzyl-α-L-talofuranoside was synthesized from methyl 3,5-di-O-benzyl-1,2-O-isopropylidene-α-L-talofuranoside which was successively treated with 20% hydrochloric acid in aqueous methanol and benzoyl chloride in anhydrous pyridine. Prospects of using methyl 2-O-benzoyl-3,5-di-O-benzyl-α-L-talofuranoside for the synthesis of new modified nucleosides were demonstrated.
