Abstract <p>A one-step method for the synthesis of α,β-unsaturated imines, hydrazones, semicarbazones, and thiosemicarbazones has been developed based on the reaction of 3-arylidene-1-pyrrolines with 2,3-diaminomaleonitrile, 4-methylpiperazin-1-amine, semicarbazide, and thiosemicarbazide in benzene or ethanol at room temperature. The structures of the obtained compounds were established by <sup>1</sup>H and <sup>13</sup>C NMR spectroscopy and elemental analysis.</p>

Abstract
