Synthesis and Some Reactions of Methyl 4-{6-Alkyl-4-methyl-3-oxo-1H-pyrrolo[3,4-c]pyridin-2(3H)-yl}benzoates

Abstract
This work presents the synthesis of two new methyl 4-{6-alkyl-4-methyl-3-oxo-1H-pyrrolo[3,4-c]pyridin-2(3H)-yl}benzoates and investigates their reactions with nitrogen-containing nucleophilic reagents. The possibility of the targeted preparation of amide derivatives and benzohydrazides with high yields (54–75%) was demonstrated. The reactions proceed selectively via nucleophilic substitution and subsequent cyclization. The obtained compounds successfully participate in reactions with the chosen nucleophilic reagents and may be promising precursors for the further synthesis of biologically active substances based on the pyrrolo[3,4-c]pyridine core.
