Abstract <p>Polychloroethenes—vinylidene chloride, 1,2-dichloroethene, trichloroethene, and tetrachloroethene—in reaction with tellurium activated in the hydrazine hydrate–KOH system form diethyl ditelluride. A multicomponent reaction of dichloroethenes and dichloromethane with tellurium affords 1,3-ditellurole in 30% yield.</p>
