Abstract <p>The study presents the results of a reaction between α-terpinene and fluorine-containing or non-fluorinated sulfonamides in the presence of halogen oxidants. By varying the reaction conditions (temperature, oxidizing system, solvent), a range of linear and cyclic sulfonamide derivatives can be obtained. A one-pot synthesis of 3a,4,5,7a-tetrahydro-1<i>H</i>-benzo[<i>d</i>]imidazole and 3a,6,7,7a-tetrahydro-1<i>H</i>-benzo[<i>d</i>]imidazole framework from α-terpinene and sulfonamides under oxidative conditions was described.</p>
