摘要

Abstract

One mononuclear cobalt(II) complex of the type [Co(L)(OAc)]PF6 (L = N,N′-[bis(pyridin-2-yl)benzylidene]-1,3-propanediamine) was prepared by reactions of the building units and characterized. Single crystal X-ray diffraction study was made for the exact knowledge of the coordination sphere. Structural analysis reveal cobalt(II) center is a distorted octahedral geometry with a CoN4O2 chromophore ligated by four N-atoms of the tetradentate Schiff base (L) along with two O-atoms of acetate in a chelating fashion. The synthesized complex displayed catecholase activity, involving the oxidation of catechol derivative to quinone derivative, with kcat of 6.59  ×  10–2 h–1 in methanol.
