Novel 1,2,3-Triazole Derivatives Boosting with Benzothiazole: Synthesis, Characterization and Efficiency Evaluation as Acid Corrosion Inhibitors

Abstract

Novel 1,2,3-triazole compounds conjugated with benzothiazole moiety were synthesized and evaluated as corrosion inhibitors in acidic medium. The molecular structures of synthesized molecules were identified by FT-IR and NMR spectroscopy and elemental analysis (CHN). The weight loss test was used for investigating the products efficiency in an acidic environment. The test results revealed that one of these compounds showed encouraging inhibition efficiency of 95% with a corrosion rate of 60.53 at 75 ppm compared to other derivatives. In addition, polarization potential measurement disclosed that this compound achieved optimum values of surface coverage and IE with concentration of 75 ppm at 298 K and this largely agreed with the results obtained from the weight loss test.
