Complexes of Cobalt(II) with 2-Methoxy-N-{(1S)-1-phenyl-2-[(prop-2-en(in)-1-yl)oxy]ethyl}aniline and Their Applications

The reaction of cobalt(II) with two ligands was studied by the extraction-photometric method. (S)-N-[2-(Allyloxy)-1-phenylethyl]-2-methoxyaniline and (S)-2-methoxy-N-[1-phenyl-2-(prop-2-yn-1-yloxy)ethyl]aniline were used as ligands. CoL2 complexes are electrically neutral. A single extraction with chloroform yielded 98.2–99.5% Co(II). Phase volume ratios of 5 : 5–115 : 5 did not affect the recovery. The yield of CoL2 was maximum at CL = 0.008M and did not decompose for 24 hours or more than 30 days after extraction. The optimal acidity was at pHopt = 3.3–6.5 (pHform = 1.1–8.8). Compliance with the fundamental law of light absorption is achieved at CCo(II) = 0.16–20 μg/mL. The ratio of components in the complex is 1 : 2, the coordinating ion is Co2+. The following do not interfere with the determination of Co(II): Li+, Na+, K+, Mg2+, Ca2+, Ba2+, La3+, Ce3+, Pr3+, Nd3+, Sm3+, Eu3+, Gd3+, Tb3+, Dy3+, Ho3+, Er3+, Tm3+, Yb3+ and Lu3+. The developed extraction-photometric method was applied to determine cobalt in wheat, oats and peas.
