摘要

Abstract

Chemical induced DNA damage occurs when various chemical agents interact with DNA, leading to structural alterations that can affect its function and integrity. This damage can result in mutations, cancer, and other health problems. Reduced form of glutathione (GSH) was employed for the protection of chemical induced DNA damage caused by an oxo-peroxo 8-quinolinato molybdenum complex, [MoO(O2)(QO)2]. The dose response curve revealed that more than 80% double stranded DNA damage occurs at 1 : 10 molar ratio of DNA and [MoO(O2)(QO)2] complex. The DNA damage protection by GSH was monitored by fluorescence emission spectroscopy. The present study showed that approximately 82% DNA damage protection was found by reduced form GSH at 6×10–5 M concentration.
