Pd-Catalyzed Hydrogenation of Unsaturated Terpenoids in Two-Chamber Reactors

Abstract
Pd/C-catalyzed hydrogenation of unsaturated terpenoids of various structure has been carried out in glass two-chamber H-tube chemical reactors using hydrogen generated ex situ. The reaction has been shown to afford the saturated compounds in excellent yield. A selective method for the synthesis of cis-myrtanol with yield of 98% via Ni-catalyzed hydrogenation of myrtenol has been elaborated. The hydrogen pressure in a glass reactor can be calculated depending on the loading of reagents and tuned as required.
