Luminescent Response of Dialkylaminostyrene Hetarene Dyes in Mixed Phospholipid Aggregates to Cu(II) Ions in Aqueous Solutions

Abstract
The work presents data on vesicular aggregates based on L-α-phosphatidylcholine (PC) and 1,2-diacyl-sn-glycero-3-phospho-L-serine (PS) doped by dialkylaminostyryl hetarene dyes as potential nanosensors for d-metal ions. In particular, it was found that the resulting colloidally stable mixed aggregates are capable of generating a substrate-induced luminescent response in aqueous solutions to Cu(II) ions in the micromolar concentration range due to the coordination of the metal on the surface of phospholipid bilayers. The role of the dye and phospholipid structure in the generation of a luminescent response to copper ions in aqueous solutions is discussed.
