Abstract <p>The results of single crystal X-ray diffraction studies of the structure of Cd(II) complex of novel 5-(2-(2-(2-hydroxyethyl)ethoxy)ethyl)-4,5-dihydro-3<i>H</i>-[1,2,4]triazino[5,6-<i>b</i>]indol-3-thione-based ligand are reported (CCDC no. 2371814). It is found, that the metal cation is coordinated by sulphur and N4 triazine atoms, the complexes with such coordination have not been described in literature. In addition, a convenient synthetic approach to the 5-(2-(2-(2-hydroxyethyl)ethoxy)ethyl)-4,5-dihydro-3<i>H</i>-[1,2,4]triazino[5,6-<i>b</i>]indol-3-thione via the cyclization of the corresponding izatine semicarbazone has been developed. Also single crystal X-ray diffraction studies of isatine thiosemicarbazone intermediate have been performed (CCDC no. 2371230).</p>
