Sorption of Actinides onto Carbon Nanotubes from Aqueous Solutions with High Salt Concentrations
摘要
Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are widely studied as candidate sorbents for the actinide recovery from solutions of various compositions. However, the actinide sorption from solutions with high salt concentrations remains poorly studied. In this work, the effect of the salt background of solutions simulating liquid radioactive waste (LRW) aAnd natural waters on the actinide sorption onto CNTs was studied for the first time. The optimum conditions for the uranium, americium, and curium sorption regarding the pH and salt concentrations were determined. The CNTs show promise for recovering uranium from radionuclide-contaminated groundwater, river waters, and seawater and from solutions of neutralized LRW and for recovering americium and curium from groundwater and river waters.
