Abstract <p>The paper addresses <i>p</i>-center and <i>p</i>-median problems in graphs/networks. In general, the material is based on an architectural glance to domains of <i>p</i>-center problems and involves the following parts: (1) a survey on <i>p</i>-center problems, solving approaches, some problem formulations (including multicriteria version); (2) a survey on <i>p</i>-median problems, solving approaches, and problem formulations (including multicriteria versions); (3) illustrative numerical examples; and (4) a new applied problem for selection of central papers in a group of research papers on communications.</p>
