Abstract

Studies of the processes of heating and acceleration of particles of sprayed material during supersonic gas-flame spraying (high velocity oxygen fuel, HVOF) are presented. On the basis of the methods of gas dynamics and thermal and transfer, a mathematical has been developed that describes the motion of particles in a supersonic flow and their thermal interaction with a gas medium. Key dependences of the velocity and temperature of particles on their size, density, parameters of gas flow, and distance have been established. It is shown that the characteristic times of acceleration and heating of particles differ, which may lead to their incomplete melting and the formation of a cover with a combination of melt and plastically deformed particles. The results of the work have practical significance for optimization of technical regimes of HVOF during the application of wear- and corrosion-resistant covers.
