Abstract <p>Possible physical results that can be obtained with a precision electromagnetic calorimeter based on PbWO<sub>4</sub> crystals on the U-70 accelerator beam within the SPASCHARM experiment are discussed. The available phase space and the possibility of measuring spectra and single-spin asymmetries of neutral mesons in various experimental configurations are explored.</p>
