Abstract

Time resolution is important parameter of the detector. High time resolution is necessary for particle identification and the accuracy of the event reconstruction at short time and space intervals as it allows for measuring neutron cross-sections in muon antineutrino interactions within the detector. It is critical for restoring the complete kinematics of the interaction, improving the reconstruction of neutrino energy, and consequently reducing systematic uncertainties in oscillation analysis. This research presents the results of time resolution measurements made with the SuperFGD detector which was developed as an active target of the upgraded detector ND280 complex of the T2K experiment. Straight cosmic tracks passing entirely through the active region of the detector were selected for time calibration. The developed algorithm calculates time delays associated with cable length, the distance from the MPPC and time-walk effect. Preliminary result of the time resolution measured using the time distribution of hits in the track from both upstream and side fibers with respect to the average time of each event is \(\sigma=1.12\) ns for a threshold of 40 photoelectrons.
