March 24th, 2024 Forbush Effect: Cosmic Ray Variations’ Spectra, Anisotropy and Magnetospheric Current System Parameters

We calculated the cosmic ray (CR) variation spectra, CR anisotropy, and variations in the planetary system of rigidities of geomagnetic cutoff (RGC) during the 2024 Mar 24 Forbush effect. The data were from ground-based CR observations at the global network of neutron monitors (GNNM), Yakutsk suite of muon telescopes, and the URAGAN muon hodoscope (Moscow). For our analysis, we used the spectrographic global survey (SGS) technique. At the muon component recording points, we obtained the average mass air temperature. We show that the CR variation spectrum during the event is not described by the power law within a wide range of rigidities. We established that there was a magnetic loop structure within the interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) in the Earth orbit. Based on the obtained data on the RGC planetary system variation, within the axisymmetric magnetospheric model, we estimated the parameters for the main magnetospheric current systems during the 2024 Mar 24 geomagnetic storm.
