Properties of Octupole States \({}^{{238}}\)U

Abstract

The energies and electrical properties of the octupole states of the \({}^{238}\) U nucleus are studied within the framework of a phenomenological model considering the Coriolis mixing of rotational bands. Mixing of the low-lying negative parity bands is considered. The energies, the structures of states of rotational bands with \(K^{{\pi}}=0^{-}\) , \(1^{-}\) , \(2^{-}\) , \(3^{-}\) , and the reduced probabilities of E1 transitions are calculated. Theoretical energy values and \(E\) 1 transitions’ probabilities are compared with the experimental data. Good agreement between experimental data and theoretical results is obtained.
