Abstract
Total resummation of double-logarithmic contributions to the spin structure function \(g_{1}\) leads to the Regge form of the small- \(x\) asymptotics as was shown in the papers by Bartels–Ermolaev–Ryskin (BER). Later, the value of the BER intercept was disproved by Kovchegov–Pitonyak–Sivert. The huge discrepancy between these results provoked an extensive polemics in the literature. Eventually, the result of BER has recently been confirmed, except for a very small discrepancy. We expound the issue of this polemics and its history, and suggest possible ways for calculating the intercept with greater accuracy.
