Abstract

This paper aims to address the limitations commonly encountered in ISM range antennas, such as low gain, limited bandwidth, and reduced data rate. To mitigate these constraints, a high-gain antenna utilizing a foam substrate is designed and manufactured. The dimensions of the antenna, including width and length, are carefully selected to align with a resonant frequency of 5.8 GHz and a foam substrate with a relative permittivity of 1.03. The proposed antenna demonstrates several advantageous features, including cost-effectiveness, low reflection coefficient, increased gain, broader bandwidth, and higher radiation efficiency. The performance evaluation and comparison with existing works show favorable results, showcasing a remarkable return loss value of –45.89 dB, a gain of 9.3 dB, a radiation efficiency of 98.3%, and a bandwidth of 670 MHz. These findings underscore the potential of the developed antenna to overcome the limitations of existing ISM band antennas.
