Abstract <p>This paper presents an efficient algorithm for the numerical solution of a system of equations which describes an unsteady flow of a gas mixture in high-pressure gas pipelines. The unsteadiness of the flow in this case is caused by depressurization of the gas pipeline and the occurrence of a gas leak. Examples of pressure and flow distributions calculations for gas leaks of low and medium intensity located in different places of the gas pipeline are given.</p>
