On the Role of St. Petersburg in the Development of Mathematical Analysis

Abstract
The main stages in the development of mathematical analysis in St. Petersburg in the 18th‒19th centuries are considered. We present brief biographical information and a description of the most important results of outstanding representatives of the St. Petersburg mathematical school: L. Euler, M.V. Ostrogradsky, V.Ya. Bunyakovsky, P.L. Chebyshev, Yu.V. Sokhotski, and A.A. Markov.
