Abstract <p>The ECMWF ERA5 reanalysis data on the formation of a pair of tropical cyclones GONY and ATSANI in the western Pacific Ocean from August 11 to 15, 2015, are compared with previously obtained results of numerical modeling of cyclonic vortex formation over tropical seas. It is shown that the reanalysis data confirm the physical mechanism of formation of cyclonic vortices that was formulated in our previous works.</p>
