Abstract

The modes of generation of a radially converging electron beam in a source with a multi-arc grid plasma emitter were analyzed using numerical simulation. The simulation was performed using the OOPIC Pro PIC code for operating modes with an accelerating voltage amplitude of 20 and 50 kV at a beam current amplitude of up to 100 A. The simulation showed a different nature of the electron beam focusing on the collector for the selected modes of electron beam generation. The experimental studies showed good agreement between the results of numerical simulation for the electron beam distributions on the collector and real electron beam imprints in the experiment. The studies were aimed at selecting and optimizing beam generation modes for subsequent experimental studies.
