Abstract

The dynamics of the formation of vapor-filled bubbles arising from the discharge of an electric capacitance through an electrolyte with a positive polarity of the active electrode is investigated. The electrode system refers to a special case of the point-plane geometry when the length of the active electrode is zero. It is shown that at a voltage at an interelectrode gap of 500 V, self-oscillations of the current are observed. There is a correlation between the shape of the current and the sound wave from the liquid oscillation recorded by the pressure sensor. At the moment of starting and moment of termination of full shielding of the active electrode, a spark discharge ignited along the surface of the insulator.
