Unsteady Fluctuations of a Liquid Metal Flow in a Closed Volume inside an Alternating Magnetic Field

Abstract
An experimental and numerical study is performed on the fluctuations of a liquid metal flow under the action of electromagnetic forces in a closed volume. The flow is unsteady in the range of considered dimensionless parameters. The region of a solenoid exhibits the most pronounced velocity fluctuations. The amplitude and range of the fluctuations grow along with the Hartmann number.
