Effect of Substorms on the Development of Magnetic Storms in Different MLT Sectors

Abstract
The authors study the effect substorms have on the development of magnetic storms using 1 min data from the world network of ground-based magnetometers. SuperMAG indices are used to perform a comparative analysis of the dynamics of auroral electrojets alongside total and partial ring currents. Field-aligned and ionospheric currents are studied using maps obtained by the new magnetogram inversion technique. Geomagnetic pulsations are considered on the basis of observations at observatories of the Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics, Siberian Branch, Russian Academy of Sciences.
