Mean Fields of Acoustic Waves with Discontinuities in Randomly Inhomogeneous Media

Abstract
Features are considered of the construction of closed equations for the mean field of acoustic waves with discontinuous profiles in a randomly inhomogeneous medium. Different approaches to obtaining such equations are compared. It is shown that despite the smoothing of profiles on average, a discontinuity in a profile should be considered before averaging. An exact expression is obtained for the mean field of the initial N-wave.
