Modeling the Excitation of a Microwave Dielectric Resonator with a Slot in the Wall of a Rectangular Waveguide
摘要
The authors model the excitation of a semi-cylindrical dielectric resonator with the electromagnetic field of a slot made in the wide wall of a rectangular metal waveguide in the range of U-wavelengths. The dielectric resonator is made of a high-permeability low-loss dielectric. Numerical modeling is used to obtain the main technical parameters of the dielectric resonator antenna and patterns of the distribution of vectors of the resulting electromagnetic field. Frequency responses are determined along with data on the rate of attenuation of the dielectric resonator’s excitation, the loaded and unloaded Q factors, and the Q factor of the coupling of the dielectric resonator with free space. The pattern of the dielectric resonator’s radiation demonstrates its properties as an element of a microwave antenna.
