Investigating the Effect of High-Latitude Ionospheric Current Systems on Results from Measuring Impedance in the Arctic, Using the Example of the Kola Peninsula

Abstract
An investigation is performed of the effect high-latitude ionospheric current systems have on results from measuring impedance on the Kola Peninsula. Model calculations and a joint analysis of satellite and ground magnetometer data show the possibility of distortions in interpreting geophysical data caused by the proximity of current systems when rocks of the Earth’s crust have high electrical resistance.
